Václav Klaus was born in Prague during the Nazi occupation. At the age of 4 Klaus and his family took part in building barricades during Prague uprising in May 1945.
Klaus entered Czechoslovak politics during the Velvet Revolution in 1989 and became Czechoslovakia's Minister of Finance in 1989.
Václav Klaus served as the first Prime Minister of an independent Czech Republic from 1993 to 1998, and was President of the Czech Republic from 2003 to 2013.
Václav Klaus had the following to say about global warming:
"I feel threatened now, not by global warming -- I don't see any -- (but) by the global warming doctrine, which I consider a new dangerous attempt to control and mastermind my life and our lives, in the name of controlling the climate or temperature. They don't care about resources or poverty or pollution. They hate us, the humans. They consider us dangerous and sinful creatures who must be controlled by them.
I used to live in a similar world called communism. And I know it led to the worst environmental damage the world has ever experienced. Global warming alarmists want to change us, they want to change our behavior, our way of life, our values and preferences. They want to restrict our freedom because they themselves believe they know what is good for us. They are not interested in climate. They misuse the climate in their goal to restrict our freedom.
Therefore, what is in danger is freedom, not the climate."
Václav Klaus lives in Czechoslovakia and is free to say these things. Here, in the USA he would be persecuted, vilified, brow-beaten, discredited and ridiculed for saying these things.
Our government was founded as a representative Republic. Now, unelected bureaucrats in agencies such as IRS, ATF, EPA, DHS, et al. ad nauseam, have usurped power from the legislative branch, aided and abetted by a President who illegally creates law by executive order and unilaterally changes laws passed by Congress.
Half of the Congress openly supports these violations of the separation of powers and so does the leadership of the other half.
As a result, it is no longer accurate to say, "our government". Because no longer is our government, a government of the people, for the people and by the people.
