Enjoy the warmth of the coming spring, for there is a long dark winter on the horizon.

All hope abandon ye who enter here

Through me you pass into the city of woe:
Through me you pass into eternal pain:
Through me among the people lost for aye.

Justice the founder of my fabric mov'd:
To rear me was the task of power divine,
Supremest wisdom, and primeval love.

Before me things create were none, save things
Eternal, and eternal I endure.
All hope abandon ye who enter here.

(From Dante's Divine Comedy)

It is time to batten down the hatches.
Lay in as many supplies as possible.
Prepare to barricade your doors.
It is every man for himself.

The era of Freedom, Liberty and Prosperity has come to an end.  We here in America have had a good long run of 200 years – but now it is over.  America is done.  Stick a fork in her.

Freedom, Liberty and Prosperity have been enjoyed by Americans for about 239 years.  Well – not really that long.  Our freedom and liberty have been on a very rapid decline for the past few decades.   Think about the changes that have become glaringly apparent since the last part of the 20th century.
  • ·         The rise of political correctness.
  • ·         Rapidly declining educational standards.
  • ·         Disappearance of personal responsibility or accountability.
  • ·         Rise of the welfare state.
Take a look around.

·         Uttering any words that refer to a person’s race, color, creed, appearance, ability, disability, sex, political affiliation, education, or zip code, will bring down the wrath of the righteous.  You will be black balled (- oh sorry - can’t say “black” balled - it might offend).

·         The basic education drop-out rate has sky-rocketed.  When I graduated from High School in 1972, there were only three of my classmates out of a class of over 400 that failed to graduate.  In 2009 the nationwide graduation rate is only about 70%.  That would equate to 120 dropouts from that class of ‘72.  Today only about 50% of teenagers graduate or graduate on-time.  It gets even worse.  A very significant percentage of those that do manage to graduate are functionally illiterate.  These kids are not stupid, they are lazy slackers.  Were they born that way?  No, they were nurtured that way by a school system and by parents that through distorted concepts of political correctness and entitlement, don’t want to damage the kid’s tender sensibilities by demanding that they work and achieve.  In misguided attempts to bolster graduation rates, minimum standards are reduced.  Those standards that do exist are then ignored – resulting in high school graduates that cannot read, cannot write, cannot speak, and cannot work.  After all, the very word “FLUNK” is no longer part of the American vocabulary.

Most anyone can be admitted to college these days.  Institutions of higher learning are churning out ill-equipped graduates nearly as fast as the public High Schools.  Over the past 15 years or so I have had the very distasteful task of mentoring and grooming newly graduated Engineers.  Yes - I said Engineers.  Electrical engineers, chemical engineers, mechanical engineers.  It is rare that I have seen much more than a flicker of understanding when it comes to basic engineering principles, or the ability to apply even the simplest math or physics tools to real-world applications. Remember – these are engineering graduates – supposedly the brightest of the bright with the most rigorous coursework.  Imagine how dull and worthless the liberal arts graduates must be!  Stupid is as stupid does.

·         When something goes wrong, how often does the person responsible step up to the plate and accept responsibility?  Not too often.  It is usually the government’s fault, societies fault, the Democrats fault, the Republicans fault, the bank’s fault, the poor’s fault, etc, etc, etc ad nauseam.

·         There is no need to succeed in school anyway.  Nobody starves in America unless they choose to.  Nobody goes without shelter unless they choose to.  There is no need to work.  Free food and clothing and TV’s and telephones and medical care.  Why bother getting an education?  Why bother getting a job?

Where did this come from?  How did it happen?  How did it happen so fast?

It DID NOT happen so fast!  It has been happening very slowly.  Step by step.  Inch by inch.

There are two paths by which a country or a people can be diverted from independence liberty and freedom to dependence, servitude and slavery.

The first and fastest is outright revolution and violent overthrow of the existing government.  Vladimir Lenin chose this route for the people of Russia at the turn of the 20th Century.  We all know the result.
The people were subjugated to communist rule.

From everyone according to their abilities, and to each according to their needs.

This all sounds great from a purely philosophical egalitarian perspective; however in actual practice it results in crushing the individual spirit in favor of the collective.  Without the prospect of a reward for hard work, there is no incentive to excel or achieve.  The USSR imploded in only 60 years.

The second is subversive infiltration from within.
This is the way of radical insurgent revolutionaries such as Saul Alinsky and Bill Ayers.  They have been at it since the time of Lenin.  Instead of winning the bodies of the people with brute force and violence, they are winning the minds of the people with propaganda and promises of a land of milk and honey.  Milk and honey taken from the capitalists and entrepreneurs that built this country from the ground up.  These methods have been very successful.  Barack Obama is one of those whose mind was molded to believe that equality for all meant achievement for none.

In America, I fear the war has been won.  Giant government bureaucracies are attempting to run everything and control every aspect of our lives.  This has been made possible only because of:
  • The rise of political correctness.
  • Rapidly declining educational standards.
  • Disappearance of personal responsibility or accountability.
  • Rise of the welfare state.
Notice I said “attempting to run”.  The giants of ineffectiveness (e.g.; Congress, CDC, CIA, DEA, DNC, DOE, DOJ, FAA, FBI, FCC, FDA, FEC, FED, FNMA, FTC, HUD, IRS, NEA, NIH, NLRB, NSA, OSHA, RNC, SSA, TSA, USPHS, USPS, ad-infinitum) cannot, and do not, achieve anything save for a black hole into which tax dollars are poured.  The individual workers have been brainwashed and compartmentalized to the extent that they have no concept of the mission of the whole – if indeed there is a mission.  The very public which the government agencies are meant to serve and protect are left naked and defenseless as these mindless government juggernauts plod in circles feeding on the dwindling number of American citizens struggling to generate tax dollars.

The Tea Party movement is evidence that a very few American citizens have finally realized that something must be done to stop this spiral into destruction.  Alas, the awakening has come 50 years too late.  The numbers of Tea Party supporters and participants are insignificant when compared to the hundreds of millions of uneducated, unmotivated, slack-jawed leeches on society that have their hands out for a hand out.

At this point even a violent revolution would merely result in the death of government as we know it, and the rise of a totalitarian state that would live only briefly until the nattering hoards of the self-entitled consume all of the wealth that has been built by hard working American Patriots for the past 200 years.

The destruction has begun, and it cannot be stopped.
All hope abandon ye who enter here.

It is time to batten down the hatches.
Lay in as many supplies as possible.
Prepare to barricade your doors.
It is every man for himself.

Enjoy the warmth of the coming spring, for there is a long dark winter on the horizon.

God help us all.
